Elton John And His Long Goodbye

IN WHAT must be one of the longest goodbyes, Elton John hits the road for three years to bid farewell to his fans.

And you’ll have to pay handsomely to watch the lively performer wave as he heads off to look after his two children.

His announcement about quitting the road was a showman’s effort, with performances and a chat, during which he said he was giving up touring to spend time with his two children.

Elton John has sold more than 300 million records, with 38 gold and 31 platinum albums and over 50 Top 40 hits.

Candle In The Wind was the biggest selling single of all time, pushing 33 million copies. The hardworking performer has won five Grammys and has performed at more than 4,000 concerts.

The Long Road

So, expect his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour to be a sellout affair, when it takes off on September 8, 2018 in the USA, working his way across all the continents and coming to an end in 2021.

The tour hits Asia — including Singapore — at the end of 2019. Tickets will be available November this year.

Being the loud performer that he is, Elton John will give Gucci the honours of designing his costumes for the show, and the production is expected to be the most spectacular that he has staged.

The singer has a long list of hits, including Your Song, Rocket Man, Crocodile Rock, Daniel, I’m Still Standing, Sad Songs, Candle In The Wind and Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me, among many others.

While he may quit touring, he still intends to continue creating music.

“I’ll be creative hopefully until I die,” he said.
