HOT ON the heels of its launch at the Geneva Motor Show, McLaren has presented its 720S, the second-generation Super Series supercar.
Designed to inspire, the sleek sports car is intended to make its presence felt whether it’s flying by you or parked to dazzle.
A new twin-turbocharged four-litre V8 produces 720PS (hence the model name) and 770Nm of torque. Built around a a carbon fibre chassis, its light weight — 1,283kg — allows it to turn in a blistering 0-100kmh in a blink-of-an-eye 2.9 seconds. It doubles that speed in 7.8 seconds (most cars would still be trying to claw their way to 100kmh at this point) and it hits a top speed of 341kmh.
New And Impressive
Despite being relative newcomer to the motoring scene, the McLaren has built up a strong following with its cutting-edge design and impressive performances.
It comes with an impressive price tag, which must have braked as hard as the car (200kmh to standstill in 4.6 seconds over 117 metres) to pull up just shy of the million-dollar mark. Plonk down S$990,000 and you can get your 720S in the second half of the year.
In reaching out to an exclusive clientele, McLaren has upped the ante by offering a bespoke service via its McLaren Special Operations (MSO) division.
The McLaren 720S “Velocity” by MSO will let you further customise the car to suit your needs.
