THE challenges of being a start-up in the sharing economy were brought into sharp focus at the recent Keep It Going: By Design discussion. 

Held in W. Atelier’s cosy showroom in Henderson, the audience was given insights into the challenges behind the efforts of business owners who have ventured into this space to compete or to complement.

Michael Hagbeck of Space Next Door wanted to disrupt himself and protect his turf when he started Space Next Door. A veteran of the self-storage industry, he figured there are peope who have space to let, and a lot of people who need space to store their stuff.

Vikram Kumar wants to bring down the cost of communication by allowing secure connections with email addresses. He reckons it will cost half the price of a current set up, and any money saved will be helpful to a start up.
