A Floral Fiesta, a fabulous one-day wine tasting event was organised by 67 Pall Mall — an international group of private clubs for wine lovers — to celebrate its first anniversary in Singapore.
Hosted inside the Floral Fantasy attraction at Gardens by The Bay, the event was a beautiful celebration of heady scents; of floral and wine cultures that engulfed our senses with an array of flavours, aromas and colours.
Guests were welcomed by an ambience that was both elegant and relaxed; an ideal setting for tasting seven wines from some of the world’s most famous wine regions.
The Wine Adventure
The enjoyable expedition of taste and discovery began with the wine station that served the 2021 Chenin Blanc from Oldenburg Vineyards, Stellenbosch, South Africa. Sipping on the light, crisp and refreshing wine and walking past the flower arrangements, we reached station two, serving the 2018 Beaune du Chateau Premier Cru Blanc, from Domaine Bouchard Pere & Fils.
This was followed by the 2019 Furmint, Szent Tamas, from the Juliet Victor Winery in Tokaj, Hungary, the 2021 Pinot Noir Bannockburn from Felton Road Winery in Otago, New Zealand, the 2019 Passel Estate Shiraz from Margaret River, Australia and the rich and flavourful 2015 Les Pagodes de Cos from Bordeaux, France.
The tasting journey was expertly guided by knowledgeable sommeliers who shared their expertise and insights into each of the wines on offer.
The final station showcased the most exciting wine: The NV Brut from the house of Pol Roger in Champagne, France, widely considered to be one of the finest non-vintage Champagnes in the world.
The bubbly spirit provided a wonderful finish to the wine expedition, leaving guests to explore other exciting features of the day — the Flight of the Dragonfly 4D show, live entertainment, children’s play area and a festival market that served a mouth-watering array of food. From Wagyu Beef skewers to roasted lamb cutlets and pita pockets, there was something to please every palate. Guests could also purchase the seven featured wines by the glass or by the bottle.
Perhaps the only downside would be the popularity of the event, which led to extended queues as a crowd had built up an hour after the event began.
Overall, A Floral Fiesta was delightful and enjoyable.
It successfully combined the beauty of nature with the pleasures of wine tasting, resulting in a unique multi-sensory experience for all who went along for the journey. The attention to detail in pairing the quality wines with the floral atmosphere made for an unforgettable and almost dreamy (perhaps due to the influence of alcohol) experience.
An event like this only serves to reinforce 67 Pall Mall’s reputation as the premier wine club in Singapore.
