Coping With The Mental Effects Of COVID-19

2020 will go down as the year of COVID-19. It has been a challenging time for the global economy as the Coronavirus has spread far and wide and brought many aspects of life to a halt.

The result of this is that we have had a chance to evaluate our lives. What do we really require? How do we cope with isolation? Who’s at risk? And what are the longterm implications of COVID-19?

Our panellists for this WED WEB CHAT — Coping With COVID-19 are psychologists who help people overcome their various issues.

Lena Teo is the Deputy Director, Children-At-Risk Empowerment Association (CARE Singapore), where she is in charge of Therapy and Mental Wellness Services.

Laika Jumabhoy is a clinical Psychology Master’s Student who has worked the last four and a half years supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Malaysia and Singapore, most recently as a senior case manager at AWARE.

Varian Monteiro is a Counselling Consultant at The Relational Counselling Studio where he works with clients to balance their mind, body and behaviour.

Varian has created PADS-10 a screening tool of 10 questions that will help you identify symptoms of anxiety and depression and what, if anything, you may want to do about it.

You can do the test at this link: https://storm-asia.com/pads10-anxiety-depression-screening/

The session covers how people are coping with the COVID-19 lifestyle. The challenges of working from home, shopping online, minimal interaction and other limiting factors.

The panellists also discuss how the negative aspects of a restricted lifestyle can be countered.

How can you improve your boundary space when working from home?

They chat with STORM-ASIA.COM publisher Kannan Chandran.
