Would You Die For Your Country?

BEYOND waving flags and reciting the pledge, would you die for your country?

This was the question posed to the panellists at the recent WED WEB CHAT — Is Your Patriotism The Same As Mine?

Panellists for the session hailed from a variety of backgrounds and ages. Jazz musician and Cultural Medallion winner, Jeremy Monteiro spoke about the distinction between nationalism and patriotism.

Former commando and owner of Cosmopolitan Real Estate, Chandran V R recalled the sense of honour and duty in his time with the elite army unit.

Culture researcher Danielle Hong felt patriotic when she was overseas and had her “beep beep” moment.

Law student, Maxine Avasadanond will have to decide where she wants to pitch her flag, but feels it’s disingenuous to have to choose.
