EVER dreamed of heading off on the holiday with superstar footballer Cristiano Ronaldo?
Here’s your chance. Well, not quite with Ronaldo the man, but the American Tourister luggage that is using the football star as its 2018 brand ambassador.
With the FIFA World Cup kicking off in Russia, from June 14, American Tourister, which is part of the Samsonite luggage group, is keen to ride the social media wave that follows Ronaldo.
Since Ronaldo is a poster boy for the game, and appeals to both genders with his lean physique, magical skills and tanned looks, many brands are looking to snap up the rights to have him as their brand ambassador.
Spectacular Earnings
The Real Madrid star and Portugal captain is a record, five-time Ballon d’Or winner and earns a pretty penny from the game. His current deal with his Spanish La Liga club nets him S$670,000 a week! Though that’s less than what Lionel Messi (S$915,000) and Neymar Jr. (S$980,000) make weekly.
Ronaldo also has sponsorship deals with Nike, and has endorsement deals with Armani, Tag Heuer, PokerStars and Castrol.
As you can see, it’s a wide range of products, not all high end, though the basis seems to be the equalising colour of money.
Ronaldo has also created his own brand, CR7 image, and has stakes in hotels and gyms.
Mint Media, owned by Singaporean Peter Lim, owns and manages Ronaldo’s image rights, except those related to Real Madrid.
With all that money, there’s nothing like a sturdy American Tourister bag to roll whatever he needs around in.
